The 2nd Xidian-Polytech Sino-French Engineer Education Workshop Was Held in Xidian
On the morning of April 24, the 2nd Xidian-Polytech Sino-French Engineer Education Workshop was held by the School of Electric Engineering of Xidian University in the Conference Hall 210 of Administrative Building of south campus of Xidian University. Claude-Gilles DUSSAP, the Secretary General of Polytech Group, Guy REUMONT, the President of Polytech Lille, Alexandre CAMINADA, the President of Polytech Nice, Philippe GOURBESVILLE, the former President of Polytech Nice, Ena, the project general coordinator of Polytech EU Scholarship, the representatives from Tianjin University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Ocean University of China and other 4 universities, the representatives from Huawei, Intel, iSoftStone and other famous enterprises, the persons responsible for undergraduate school, International Cooperation and Communication Department and postgraduate school and over 200 representatives of teachers and students have attended the workshop. This workshop aimed at making discussions on promotion the friendly cooperation between Xidian and Polytech, the cultivation mode of engineer education and the development direction in the future. Liao Guisheng, the Dean of the School of Electronic Engineering, acted as the moderator and Shi Guangming, the Vice President, attended the workshop and made a welcome speech.

Shi Guangming showed warm welcome to all participants. He said, this year was the 55th year of the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic relations. One month ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Nice and started his state visit in France. Today, Sino-French Engineer Education Workshop was held in Xidian University to seek for common development and build our friendship, which had profound meanings. He pointed out that the engineer education in France could be taken as an example for the global engineer education. At present, Xidian University strived to build a new type talent cultivation system with the theme of “students as the center, moral education as the importance, ability as the priority and knowledge as the basis” in this intelligent era. This workshop would provide a good opportunity to broaden the mind in engineering education and expand the cooperation fields.

Claude-Gilles DUSSAP, the Secretary General of Polytech Group and Guy REUMONT, the President of Polytech Lille respectively introduced the basic situation of French engineer education. Alexandre CAMINADA, the President of Polytech Nice made a brilliant report about how to train research-oriented and innovative excellent engineers. Philippe GOURBESVILLE, the former President of Polytech Nice introduced the university-industry cooperation of engineer education of Polytech. He said that the talent cultivation mode oriented by enterprise demands could provide quality resource for elite training, and expressed his idea about how to carry out university-enterprise cooperation and achieve a win-win effect. Liao Guisheng, the Dean of the School of Electronic Engineering made an introduction about this school and the education characteristics, teacher resource, cultivation system and educational results of Sino-French joint education project, and he also said that the school paid much attention to the all-round cooperation with Polytech, and was confident of the development prospect in talent cultivation and research cooperation of both sides.

Philippe GOURBESVILLE, the former President of Polytech Nice introduced the university-industry cooperation.
On the afternoon of April 24, in the form of a round-table conference, the workshop held group discussions on three topics: “CTI certification of the French Engineering Council”, “establishing Sino-French inter-university research institute” and “school-enterprise cooperation in engineer education”. Claude-Gilles DUSSAP, the Secretary General of Polytech Group, Guy REUMONT, the President of Polytech Lille, Alexandre CAMINADA, the President of Polytech Nice and Philippe GOURBESVILLE, the former President of Polytech Nice shared their own experience in Sino-French engineer cultivation; Tianjin University introduced their successful experience of CTI certification for up to 6 years; Tongji University introduced the relevant situation of CTI certification; Central South University made a comparison and analysis of the current situation of China and France in cultivation mode and teaching characteristics; the representatives from enterprises brought up a lot of useful advice about the university-enterprise cooperation in engineer training. Finally, Professor Liao Guisheng emphasized in his conclusion that inter-university communication and research had profound meanings for a better Sino-French joint education project, and the discussion about CTI certification in the workshop particularly gave us lots of benefits. We should focus on first-class construction, conclude lessons and experience and make active exploration so as to continuously improve our teaching level and make efforts to educate and cultivate more talents.
