Institute of Electronic CAD
In order to track the evolution of foreign electronics design and manufacturing technology and strengthen the academic construction of the discipline of circuits and systems, Xidian University established the Institute of Electronic CAD in June 1989, the full name is the Institute of Computer-Aided Design for Circuits, and referred to as Institute of CAD.
The Institute of CAD is an affiliated unit of the national key discipline "circuits and systems" doctoral program. It is a drafting unit of the national military standards for EDA electronic designs such as VHDL, EDIF, and Gerber. It is one of the main technical support units for Key Laboratory of High Speed Circuit Design and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Ministry of Education, China. Relying on the Institute of CAD, Xidian University constructed the joint laboratories with Midea Group and Keysight Technologies Inc., respectively. It is one of the first nine supporting units for the establishment of integrated circuit talent training bases in the country.
The Institute of CAD is mainly engaged in circuits and systems design research, including digital-analog hybrid integrated circuit design, signal integrity analysis and design, EDA software development, computational electromagnetics, electromagnetic metamaterials, RF and microwave integrated circuits, high-speed IC designs, wireless energy transmission and collection, embedded system software and hardware designs, internet of things, body area network, etc. The Institute of CAD has won 5 provincial and ministerial awards, published more than 100 academic papers and 10 books.
The Institute of CAD is leading in the field of signal integrity analysis and design. There are more than 100 ASIC design ICs and significant industrial applications. It has achieved fruitful research in emerging areas such as metamaterials and new antennas and microwave devices. The Institute of CAD received National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Nomination Award, Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards of Shaanxi Province, and China Electronic Education Association, respectively. The Institute of CAD has won many outstanding awards in the Microsoft Global Embedded Design Competition and Intel National Embedded Design Competition, and so on.
At present, there are 18 research staff in the Institute of CAD, and the age and knowledge structures are reasonable. The scientific research office area is more than 1,000 square meters, and the scientific research conditions and experimental environment are becoming increasingly perfect. Under the background of the new journey, all the staffs of the institute of CAD will continue to serve the country with scientific research and innovation as their primary goal, and to cultivate students with virtue as our mission. The Institute of CAD will strive to make new breakthroughs in the core technology of circuit and systems, and strive to be the trend leader for double first-class university development!
